Mother Nature smiled on the Gullymor MX facility this past Sunday and diverted the expected rain showers and thunderstorms to provide a day of fantastic weather for Round #2 of the Royal Distributing CXCC East. There was just enough moisture in the ground to keep dust to a minimum and lots of traction. Strong rider turnouts for all classes kept the racing close.
The combination of the top notch MX track, long sections of single track and fast grass track areas are making Gullymor one of the favorite stops on the CXCC circuit.
Steven Able and the WEC timing crew hard at work - as usual the results were posted within minutes of the end of each race.
Yamaha once again took top two spots on the Pro podium with Brian Wojnarowski in first and Justin Lewis in 2nd. Adam "Cheeseburger" Millson rounded out the podium in 3rd on his Dual Sport Plus GasGas.
Curtis Marshall took 2nd in Mini Senior behind Mia Barrett but was ALL smiles as he got the fastest lap of the day in that class and the $100 from Wiesner Insurance for his efforts.
Yamaha rider Rob Hewitt took the win in Vet Master Class ahead of Steve Ooman (who won the Pirelli fastest lap award and got a new set of Pirelli rubber for it) and David Taplay.
Scott Merritt, Ryan Barber and Charlie Lake went 1, 2, 3 in hotly contested Vet Jr class and all got some great prizes from Parts Canada for their efforts.
The Women's Class was once again awarded with cold hard cash courtesy of the Laminacor Racing "Ride Like a Girl" program. Alex Franklin got $100 for 1st, Jill Carny $60 for 2nd and Kari Van Oosten $40 for 3rd.
Next round for the CXCC East will be in Parry Sound at the famous Hurd Pit, home to 06 & 07 World Championship rounds, on Sunday July 26th.
This weekend the CXCC West kicks of its season with rounds 1 & 2 in Lytton, BC at the Monkey Wrench Double Header weekend
